Oleg Kotin, one of the boys from my group is very shy and very cautious. However once when we were colouring a picture of a watermelon together, I said: "Oleg, say aar -buuz (watermelon in Russian) and suddenly he said "Aaauuuz" and then repeated... "aaauuz"! I was realy suprised. I never heard him talking or making any sounds before. Later we have been repeating this word again and again to make sure that it was not an accident. Seemed like Oleg was suprised not less then me, after he managed his first word he looked in my eyes for a while and gave me a big happy smile. This is such a great feeling to see how your efforts result in some noticable achievments of the child!
